At Sussex University, we delivered precise utility location and comprehensive utility protection services. By employing advanced techniques, we ensured that all utilities were accurately identified and safeguarded, minimising risks during the demolition and construction phases. Our methods allowed Balfour Beatty to proceed with confidence, knowing that critical infrastructure was well-protected.

We carried out PAS 128 surveys of existing utilities. This included desktop studies and verification through the use of electro-magnetic location (EML) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) techniques. Followed by production of digital location drawings.

The site was particularly complex as historically it had been redeveloped, expanded and altered many times with the addition of further utilities. Also, over time planted trees had grown their roots around the utilities.
